Bond
Origination started in 1998, when companies started to facilitate
Home Loans via the Internet. The industry has grown into a multi–billion
Rand business, delivering 65% of the banks’ Home Loan applications
to them. This would account for some R 7 billion in Home Loan applications
per month.
Originators earn their fees by way of commission from the banks. In
the process of earning this payment, the Originator gathers the required
information on a comprehensive application, with all the supplementary
documents needed for the transaction. The application is submitted
to the banks via an electronic platform, of which Comcorp is the most
popular by far. Comcorp is an extremely sophisticated software package,
which provides the essential interface between Bond Originators and
