This concept is unique in that it is a combination of a website and stores. Customers are drawn to the website which offers parenting advice and health-related issues and they are then introduced to the retail stores. Once the site is updated it will offer online selling of the products available. Franchisor will maintain website. Franchisees will have free website exposure. Sales generated through the website will be located to the franchisee from that town. Franchisee will receive 5% of turnover generated from online sales in his area. All costs from these sales are for the franchisors account. |
| Background/History of the Business |
The concept originated a number of years ago when Kobus and Gerda were busy developing a website for parents, covering the whole spectrum of parenthood. As the new generation of parents is Internet and Cell phone driven, it was apparent that a single homebred website was necessary to provide parents with information and advice on how to not only cope, but excel, at parenting. Babies Online is a unique concept, covering everything a parent needs to know from birth to school-going age.
The need then arose to provide the products & materials necessary to achieve these goals set by parents. As there was no retail store which offered an exclusive range of safety equipment, clothing, quality furniture and educational products, plus books, the first store was opened in 2008.
Following on the success of the first store, the second store was opened early in 2009. At the beginning of 2009 the decision was made to embark on a national expansion program, affording like-minded entrepreneurs a viable and profitable business opportunity. It was decided to follow the franchise route as this would ensure personal involvement in every business, thus providing the best possibility of growth, whilst ensuring that these businesses were operated by committed franchisees.
