1. If you would like to register the business yourself - which is really easy and will save you money- then head over to www.cipro.co.za and sign up as an agent. Alternatively you can get a business broker, lawyer or accountant to register your business for you, but be warned, this will cost you a lot more.
2. Once you have signed up as an agent and deposited money into Cipro's account, you will need to complete a CK7 to reserve a business name. Make sure to include the nature of the business as well as three different names in case your first option is not available. You can do a name search on Cipro beforehand and see whether there's likely to be any clashes with regards to business names. Remember that Cipro will not reserve your chosen business name if it’s similar to someone else’s name.
3. Once the name has been approved, you will need to complete a CK1 in triplicate and include a copy of the letter you received from Cipro with regards to the name reservation and approval. You will also need to include details of your business accounting officer. Post the documents to Cipro in Pretoria (postal address is on the CK1 application form) and make sure to include your agent code on a cover letter.
4. Wait patiently until Cipro confirms the registration. This may take anywhere from 6-8 weeks.
